What is Forest Bathing or Shinrin Yoku?

Forest bathing (or shinrin-yoku) is a mindfulness practice in nature that originated in Japan and now it has arrived in the Isle of Man.

The name refers to bathing yourself in the forest atmosphere through all of your senses. So don’t worry, you don’t have to go into water to forest bathe!  Instead, you focus on what you can see, hear, smell, touch and taste. It’s all about slowing down, getting out of your head and into your body.

As a forest bathing guide, I will take you on a short and slow walk to help you to connect with nature and yourself.   After a forest bathing walk you will feel more relaxed, less stressed and recharged. Scientific studies show that forest bathing has lots of health benefits.

We know we feel better in nature. Come and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the forest.

Discover the benefits that are gained from a walk in the woods, practising mindfulness, relaxation and breathing techniques.  These have been proven to strengthen the immune system, reduce stress levels and improve moods.

There will be hot drinks and snacks from foraged food.

Just what the doctor would prescribe from the natural health service!
